Holiday greetings were sent out recently that included a worm in the attatchment. The subject line read "Merry Christmas." The so-called "Zafi" e-mail worm had the capability of changing "Merry Christmas" into the appropriate language of the recipient. This made the odds of the e-mails being opened mush more likely. The worm spread across 18 European countries on Tuesday night but was not expected to effect the US because of the time difference and our awareness of the problem. While this worm is a threat, it is only labeled by antivirus companies as having a "medium" warning. They also say that it is in no comparison to Bagle, MyDoom, and Netsky which were all big worms this year.

Well so far I have completed four of my exams. YEAH!!! I have one more to do on Thursday. Today I took my political science and psychology exams. I hope that I did good on them!! Well I can't wait for exams to be over with. This has been such a stressful week for me. Last night, I stayed up until 4 AM studying. That is what I call dedication. My exam started at 8. So I got roughly three hours of sleep, well I will definately be going to bed early tonight.

No one knew what the outcome of the long awaited case would be (not even MSNBC, who was apparently ready for both see right -->). Well I must say that I am happy that Scott Peterson got the death penalty. I cannot imagine in my wildest dreams how someone could kill their wife and unborn child. Hello? Divorce is widely acceptable in the United States and two lives could have been saved that way. It is likely however, that Peterson will not actually be executed for decades if ever, he could die in prison first. In California, since they reinstated capital punishment in 1978 only ten people have been killed. In many cases, I believe that the death penalty is cruel. However, I believe that in this case, the punishment fits the crime. Hopefully, Scott Peterson will have many years to reflect on the murders he committed. Ultimately, no matter what happens, one day he will have to anwser to the MAN UPSTAIRS, who know all.

A diver, age 80 survives ocean for 18 hours

Eighty year old, cuban born Ignacio Siberio dives nearly everyone weekend. This weekend, his experience with the ocean saved his life. On Saturday morning, Siberio went to one of his favorite fishing spots in the Florida Keys, around 2:30 he realized that his boat was no longer anchored and was beginning to float away. He swam after the boat for a few miles before realizing that he would not catch it and giving up. Siberio then grabbed and held on the the nearest lobster trap bouy, where he would remain all night. He used all of his knowleldge about survival in the ocean to hold on the the bouy for 18 hours in the cold round Atlantic Ocean. During the night, temperatures fell into the 50's perhaps one of the coldest nights for the Keys this year. Siberio mustered up all of his mental and physical strength to survive, keeping his legs moving through the water to prevent hypothermia. Siberio's family and the coast guard began looking for the man, and things turned ugly when the coast guard found his boat nearly 40 miles from where he had been diving. The next morning, Siberio began swimming the nearly 10 miles back to shore. When he was about 4 miles away, he was located by some of his family members. Siberio didn't need hospitalization and survived with the help of his wetsuit and over 60 years of Ocean survival and diving experience.

I just wanted to say Congratulations to the Panthers with their 20-7 win over the St. Louis Rams today. The Panthers are on a roll and they have won their last five games. Two months ago they had everyone in the league wondering if last year was just a fluke, after they lost 6 games in a row leaving them 1-7. Ten of last season's 22 regulars are either no longer with the Panthers or out for the season, and a total of 14 Panthers are out for the season total. It looks to me that the Panthers season is beginning to perk up and they are starting to play like the team we saw last season. Hopefully, they can pull of a win against the Atlants Falcons next Saturday, who beat them back in early October. Don't give up just yet, things are starting to look on the bright side for the home team. Go Panthers!!!!

Jay Greenberg grew up like most normal children, he had both hobbies, heros, and dreams. Jay devoloped an intense passion for music at the early age of two, and unlike most children his heros were Mozart and Beethoven. Greenberg is a 12 year old boy who attends Julliard School in New York. At the age of 12, he has already written five full length symphonies which is more than some great composers write in a lifetime. His parents found it bizarre when Jay devoloped such a strong affinity for music early in life, because neither his mother or his father are professional musicians. At a mere two years of age, Jay expressed his fascination with instruments by writing and drawing them. He even drew a cello and asked for one before the age of three to his parents bewilderment. By the age of three he began composing and we he went to school teachers didn't know what to do with him. Jay went to Julliard at the age of ten of a full scholorship, and by the age of 11, he was taking music theory with third year college students. Jay has a composing program on his computer, and sometimes he composes so rapidly that his computer crashes. Many of Jay's Julliard professor's agree that he could very well one day be ranked among the greatest prodigies in the history of music composition. "I am talking about the likes of Mozart, and Mendelssohn, and Saint-Sans," said Sam Zyman, one of Jay's professor's at Julliard. However, for Jay music comes naturally like a beautiful symphony orchestrated inside his head.

For Christmas, my family and I will be traveling to Nashville, Tennessee. We will be staying in the Opryland Hotel. We are going because my mom's cheerleading squad (that I help her coach) will be competing in the WCA Nationals. Last year, the squad (which I was a member of) won the title of National Champions. It was such a wonderful experience. Hopefully, the girls will do awesome this year too!! The Opryland is beautiful during Christmas time. I am so excited!!! The entire hotel is decked out in Christmas decorations and it really puts everyone in a great mood for the holiday season. The hotel really is incredible, there are gardens, waterfalls, and ponds inside the facility. It also boasts many wonderul restaurants and shops. You never even have to leave the hotel to have a great time. I am really looking forward to spending the holidays there with my family. Opry Mills, a mall just like Concord Mills is also incredibly close to the hotel. I am really looking forward to going. Good Luck LNHS cheerleaders!!!!! Carry on the tradition!! Go WILDCATS!!!!

Bernard Kerik withdrew his name from consideration to be the Bush administration's new Homeland Security secretary. This move was made after questions arose about the immigration status of a nanny that Kerik employed. As the Homeland Security secretary, Kerik would oversee the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. Kerik is the former New York City Police Commisioner. Kerik also supervised the NYPD's response to September 11th, 2001. In 2003, Kerik also temporarily worked in Iraq helping to rebuild their police forces. His nomination was highly supported by both Republicans and Democrats. However, Kerik is not the first government official to fall victim to these sorts of problems. Similiar problems destroyed the nominations of three top candidates for administration positions under the Clinton Administration. Particularly, Zoe Baird who forced to withdraw her name as the top Attorney General candidate after it was discovered that she had not paid Social Security taxes on an illegal immigrant who served as her housekeeper.

New genetic tests are available that can tell doctors which breast cancer patients needs to undergo chemotherapy and which ones do not. These results claim that nearly half of the women who are diagnosed with a specific form of breast cancer can skip chemotherapy. This test will spare thousands of women a year the discomforts of being put through chemotherapy. For me, being a woman, this is wonderful news. All women should be reminded that regular breast examinations either done by yourself or by physician are key to early detection of breast cancer.

74 American Kids found in Mexico schools

Seventy-four American children were returned to the United States today after they were found attending two irregularly operated boarding schools. The children were found without proper travel or residency documents. The US children were discovered as the two schools were raided because they didn't meet sanitary regulations. Throughout the year, a total of 590 American students who were attending such schools. Many of the schools did not even have proper doctors, and the majority of the students lacked records and medical information among other things. Most of these so-called boarding schools were supposed to be for children with behavior problems. The schools promised to set troubled teens back on the right track, and some even went as far as to use Jesus in their slogans in order to draw attraction to the illegally operated schools.

Well, this is definately the most stressful time of the semester. Everyone is busy studying for all of their finals. I personally am extremely stressed out about all of mine. I am very worried about my Algebra final, it's okay, you can laugh if you want, but math is so complicated for me. When they started incorporating numbers and letters it got way too confusing for me. But oh well I will just wish myself luck. Friday is my big ALGEBRA FINAL. AHHHH!! THAT IS TOMMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am just praying that I don't fail.

Schools cracking down on young kids

In the news recently, there have been numerous articles about elementary school students being suspending. Today, a fourth grader in Louisiana was suspended for bringing cups of jello to school. The jello was tested and no alcohol was found. However, the girls suspension stuck because it was a look-alike drug. Allegedly, the girl's mother who is a bar tender told the girl to take them to school and sell them to her classmates to make Christmas money. Years ago this punishment would have been considered harsh but with all the violence in schools over the past few years, many schools feel that they'd rather be safe than sorry. Two other girls are now facing attempted murder after they fed a poisonous cake to there classmates. Several of the students had to be taken to the hospital. The girls claimed that they just meant it as a joke and that they never meant to hurt anyone. I believe that in this particular case the punishment definately fits the crime. I think that harsher punishments like this one, will keep schools safe. There is one case however I don't agree with. A girl was suspended from her elementary school for doing cartwheels on the playground. Apparently this is considered to be a dangerous activity.

The Supreme Court has found itself in a battle over the legalization of marajuana. The lawsuit was filed by two women, Angel Raich and Diane Monson, who are both cancer patients after federal agents confiscated marijuana plants from Monson's yard.
Since 1996, 11 states have passed medical marijuana laws. In the recent elections, Montana approved laws protecting medical marijuana users from arrest and prosecution. Others states who approve the use of medical marijuana are Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington. Angel Raich had tried several forms of medication before using the cannibas to help her ease the pain of a brain tumor. After beginning use of the marijuana Raich condition has gotten better, and the pain she was suffering has improved tremendously. Raich has even gone far enough to say that the cannabis could help soothe thyroid cancer pains for Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist who has been absent from the arguments.

This is such a remarkable movie, that everyone must go out and see. Not only is Johnny Depp absolutely gorgeous in the film, but he does a wonderful job. His co-stars, Katewinslet and her children in the movie are also fantastic. This movie will make the young and the old alike never want to grow up! I must admit however that this heartfelt drama is quite the tear jerker, so pack a few tissues. But it is all worth it to see Johnny Depp, TRUST ME!!

Startling Pro Anorexia Trend

On the Internet, self-help chatrooms and web sites are nothing new. However, these web sites are often started to generate a positve support for people who are dealing with the same issues. To one extent many people visiting these pro anorexic web sites feel that they are doing just that. On these sites, eating disorders are seen as a lifestyle choice. The sites are not for people seeking treatment or looking to get better. The sites offer tips on how not to eat or what to eat to limit daily caloric intake to startling lows. The sites also offer thinspiration section which are usually pictures glorifying ultra thin models and actresses. Many of these images have been altered to make these "thinspiration" models appear smaller than they already are. On these sites, girls take pride in the eating disorders and look for ways to continue their disorder by inspiration. This seems extremely bizarre to me. Especially reading girls discuss eating low fat broths to consume a mere 30 or 35 calories. However, many users claim that the sites allow them to confide secrets about their disorders to someone. It makes them feel as if they are not alone. The sites also offer disturbing tips on how to hide disorders from friends and family. This seems harmful to me. Encouraging people to starve themselves, but to the people who use the sites, I guess it is just another way of life.

Prayers to the Ebersol famiy

I just wanted to send my prayers out to Dick Ebersol and his family. He along with two of his children were in a plane crash killing his 14 year old son. The boy is said to have been ejected from the plane and then crushed be the wreckage. Dick Ebersol was pulled out of the plane by another son who was also in board. Ebersol and his 21 year old son suffered serious injuries but should be fine. I can't even imagine how difficult a tragedy like this must be. Losing a child must me one of the most difficult things imaginable. God Bless!!

World AIDS Day

Today is World AIDS Day! When I think about this, both good and bad things come to mind. AIDS is such a horrible disease that no person should ever have to suffer from. Hopefully with AIDS awareness, the world as a whole can keep AIDS from being an even larger epidemic in the future than it already is. Personally, in my lifetime I have seen someone die from AIDS. It was without a doubt the worst thing that I have ever seen. AIDS is a vicious disease, it spares no one that crosses its path. The disease doesn't care about your family, what you look like, or what your social status or income may be. AIDS makes vitims of both the impoverished and wealthy alike. The world we live in must come together as a collective unit and do everything in our power to fight this disease. We must educate young people about AIDS and the consequences they face if they choose to have sex. We must not only teach abstinence in our schools, but we must also educate people about condoms, birth control, and other contraceptives. While abstinence is always the safest way of protecting yourself, let's face it not everyone is going to wait until they are married to have sex. However there is hope in the fight against AIDS. If the world bans together to create stronger programs centered on AIDS awareness and keep searching for ways to prolong life and cure the ugly disease we can get somewhere. We must work together, but if we do, we CAN and we WILL save lives.

Well I successfully painted my entire room! I must admit that my ability to do this is nothing short of a MIRACLE!! It only took my about six exhausting hours, many of them far beyond my bedtime. I am so EXCITED, finally a little COLOR for my formerly DULL room! I am extremely proud of myself, not to float my own boat but this is by far the most domestic thing I have ever done and it actually looks presentable. I figured that most of the paint would mysteriously wind up on the carpet but lucky for me and my parents, it didn't!!! So I might as well go ahead and drop out of college to pursue my dreams as an ARTIST, J/K!! I painted three of my walls a light peach color, and the wall that my bed is up against, I painted a mauve color. The color scheme actually goes rather nicely with my BEAUTIFUL BEDSPREAD! I am really HAPPY!!! My room is finally starting to look like HOME after all!

Desperate Housewives is definately my favorite show of the season!! Everyone on the show is beautiful (take the example to my right for instance Jesse Metcalfe, who plays a high school gardener who is having an affair with one of his married clients). Each week the plot thickens. To make things even more bizarre the show is narrated by a women who killed herself during the first episode, and her neighbors, friends, and family still don't know why. ABC did a remarkable job with this hit new show. It certainly keeps me watching. With delicious eye candy (ex. Jesse Metcalfe) and crazy plots the women of America are definately loving this show!!

Long weekend

Over the weekend, I went to Tennessee with my parents and sister to visit some of my family. It was pretty fun. The trip was BORING though, it takes about three hours to get there, but I just slept the whole way. On Saturday night they had a suprise 70th birthday for my grandfather. He was so CUTE and EXCITED to see everyone. Many of his friends are older as you can imagine, but there was actually quite a large turn out. We actually have the same birthday with is Nov. 20th, but his wife scheduled the party for a week later so that we could all be there. I also got to see my great-grandparents which was pretty cool. They are both in their mid to late eighties so I am happy each time that I get to see them. But I just got home not too too long ago so I am pretty tired. OFF TO BED!! GOODNIGHT!

Well this weekend was definately a fun, hectic, and interesting one. One Friday night, I went to Have a Nice Day with Barret, Megan, and Knox. We had a BLAST!! Kicking off my birthday with my best friends was so much fun. We didn't get home until late and we didn't go to bed until about 5 and then we had to wake up at 6:30 to go to the cheerleading competition in Greensboro. It was CRAZY!! The next day was pretty rough, but we had so much FUN drinking and dancing. On Saturday night, I just hung out with a few close friends which was fun. So my birthday is over now, I have been talking about it for forever, HAHA!! Oh well, next up Thanksgiving!!

This is just one person's opinion, but I must say that I believe that math is such an incredible waste of time. I mean yes, I think it is important to be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Beyond that however, things just get ridiculous. Never in my life will I actually use anything that I am learning. I can do basic math of course, but when they added letters things just got complicated for me. So all of you math whizs can go ahead and laugh. I mean everybody struggles with something, rights so for me it is math. I can assure myself and everyone else that whatever career path I choose to pursue will require very little math skills. My teacher is a very nice, yes I will repeat NICE man. But I think he should brush up on his English skills a little, and maybe that would help. Well maybe I should also pay attention better (but isn't it always easier to blame things on other, I thought so).

Tonight, I am in Raleigh. My mom's cheerleading squad has a competition tommorrow. Actually, it is a pretty big competition. It is the North Carolina State Cheerleading Championship. Last year our squad won, beating 180 teams to receive the highest score. I am so excited about tommorrow. I hope that the girls to good. They have an AMAZING team already and so much POTENTIAL! It is fun being an assisstant coach, I have been helping them since their season started. They girls have practiced so hard this week, and they deserve to good. The JV squad competes at 7:55 in the morning, YUCK, I have to get up at 6! Varsity doesn't go on until around five in the afternoon. Tommorrow will be a fairly long day for me. We are also going to go to the mall which I must confess, I am very excited about. GO LNHS CHEERLEADERS!~!

my BEAUTIFUL bedspread

Today, I went to Concord Mills with my mom and got a gorgeous bedspread. This may sound boring to some people, but to me it was amazing. My room is DULLER than DULL!! But now I am so happy. It is white, and my pillows are pink. That doesn't give a very accurate description, but I am very HAPPY!! Before I moved out of my parent's house, I was used to my wonderful bedroom at home. But being off on my own the boring bedroom I have now was driving me crazy. Now I am soooo happy. My mother tried to say that this was supposed to be a birthday present, but that's okay. Now my bedroom is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!

I must say that the people who evented Math should be SHOT! I think that it is not necessary for people mostly ME, to learn anything besides addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Everything else is far beyong anything that I will ever be capable of understanding. I hope and pray that I will pass college algebra. I made good grades in high school, but this class is so extremely hard for me!!! It stresses me out beyond belief. MATH SHOULD BE ILLEGAL!!

Today, I went to the mall with my mom and my sister. It was fun spending time with them. Even though they only like like 45 minutes from here, I don't get to see them as much as I used to. We went to Southpark and ate at the Cheesecake Factory. It was so GOOD! I love eating at that place. We also shopped around the mall for a while. I got some really cute shirts and some things to keep me warm since it is starting to get colder outside.

Today, I went and voted. I voted for George Bush. This is the first election that I have been able to vote in and it was such an incredible feeling. It made me feel like I actually have some sort of say in what goes on in this country. I think that it is SUPER important for the youth of AMERICA to go out and let their voices be heard. I mean this is our country too. So for everyone that went out and voted today including myself, we should all be proud of ourselves, and be even prouder to be a part of a nation that actually values our opinions.

I'm not so sure that these two things go together but oh well. I can't wait for tonight, meeting new people and going somewhere new is always FUN! Going to class on Monday get be a bit of a struggle maybe I shouldn't say that on here (Hi Prof. Lewis). I will try my hardest to come, PROMISE! Happy Halloween!!

Well, my day was pretty boring. I went to school bright and early and 8 AM. YUCK!! After that, I came home and went to sleep. When I decided to wake up and make myself useful, I decided to clean my house which was a complete DiSaStOr! I think that my roommate Megan and I are probably the messiest girls in the entire world. I would have to say that the word Anti-domestic could be used to describe us if that is even a word. So you can imagine that this cleaning process took quite some time out of my day. Then we decided to go all the way to Mooresville to help my mom with cheerleading. She is the cheerleading coach at our old high school. With a Varsity and JV squad made up of some 45 girls you can imagine that our help was appreciated. That was pretty fun, the girls are doing so GOOD!! It makes me miss cheering, but being able to help out coaching is fun too. I got very irritated last night when I went out to eat with my dad and the waitress asked if I was over 13. I am almost 19 and when people say things like this is drives me absolutely freakin CRAZY!! My dad tried to tell me that this will come in handy later in life. Sometimes people ask if my mom and I are sisters so I imagine that she went through the same thing but right now I HATE it. It especially makes things worse when my 15 year old sister who was blessed with certain LARGE assests that I was not looks older than me. Well overall I would have to say that my day was average, so I guess things could have been worse.
